SRI DALADA MALIGAWA

 














                                                                                                                                                                           The Temple of Sri Dalada is a world famous shrine where the left tooth of Lord Gautama Buddha is enshrined. This temple, which is visited by thousands of local and foreign devotees and tourists every day, was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988

The cultural value of the temple, which brings great value to Bodu devotees living all over the world, is also immeasurable. Sri Dalada Maliga is a combination of unique style used to build the "Dalada Mandiraya" which was previously housed in other kingdoms, this architecture has a unique architectural style of Upland.


The temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is built in the city of Kandy near the ancient Royal Palace which is situated to the North of the temple and the forest reserve called “Udawaththa Kelaya” to the East. The famous Kandy Lake also known as “Kiri Muhuda” to the South and “Natha & Paththini Devala” on the West. The temple is adorned with intricate carvings using gold, silver, bronze, and ivory.
